In the middle of the 20th century, researchers already knew that chromosomes played an important role in heredity, and many suspected that DNA held the precious genetic information from each parent. Perhaps, by viewing a model of DNA, it could be understood how traits from each parent were combined in the offspring.

There was a frenzy of activity from 1940 on. The relationships between the scientists proved to be important to the discovery of DNA in 1953. This activity will reveal more about those relationships.
