The activity on this page explores the Scientific Method in a new situation. Just like scientists, non-scientists must conduct research to further their knowledge and understanding. The Scientific Method is a good process for answering any question, as you’ll see in this interactive example. This topic may not seem like a particularly scientific endeavor, but it is an example of identifying a problem and attempting to solve it. Sixteen-year-old Dana and her brother, thirteen-year-old Ryan, have asked their parents to buy them cell phones. Their parents indicated that Dana and Ryan must first do the research and identify the best cell phone model and service plan. Read each of the following tasks completed by the siblings and identify which step of the Scientific Method is being described. Move your cursor to the name of a step to get feedback on your answer. |
